The school is compliant with all duties placed upon it by the Education Act (2002) which requires that the following responsibilities are discharged by the Governing Body:

• There is a safeguarding and child protection policy in place.

• The school operates safe recruitment practices.

• The school maintains a single central record which includes details of all DBS checks.

• The school has properly trained senior leaders who are designated to take lead responsibility for dealing with Child Protection and this training is refreshed every 2 years. Currently the Principal, Deputy Principal and Assistant Principals been trained in this regard. The Assistant Principal (Inclusion) is the lead for Looked After Children and the Principal is the Designated Safeguarding Lead.

• All members of staff receive Child Protection training to equip them to carry out their Safeguarding responsibilities effectively and this is refreshed every 3 years.

• All temporary staff and volunteers are informed of the arrangements for Safeguarding.

• There is a member of the Governing Body with responsibility for Safeguarding.

• The school seeks assurances from other organisations using the school for after-school activities that they have appropriate policies and procedures.

• The Governing Body reviews its policies and procedures annually and makes an annual report to the Local Authority (LA) regarding Safeguarding.
