Year 6 Key Information
In Year 6, children have PE on a Friday with Manchester United. Please ensure children arrive in school wearing the appropriate PE kit and all jewellery removed.
Homework books will be sent out each Friday. Children should complete the tasks (Maths, English, Spelling and Science) and return by the following Wednesday to be checked by the teacher.
Children will receive spellings on a Friday in their homework book. These should be taken home and practised over the week. Children will be tested the following Friday and new spellings given.
In Year 6, children have the responsibility of changing their own books as and when they need to. They have access to the reading library during the day and are encouraged to change their book regularly. In Year 6, children should aim to read every night at home so they can quiz their completed books on Accelerated Reader. Adults and children are encouraged to sign the reading record book to show that they have done reading at home.
In May, all children in Year 6 will be sitting statutory assessments called SATs. They will be assessed formally in Maths and English. Catch-up sessions are currently taking place in school, please speak to your child's teacher if you have any questions or concerns. Booster sessions for the SATs will take place in the Spring term.
